My Story

Hi,
My name is Michaela, a Perth-based textile artist with a Bachelor of Art & Design and I'm a registered Creative Arts Therapist and Nurse.
Raised in a Maltese migrant family, my art practice is shaped by lived experience and explores identity, chronic illness, resillience and the often unspoken experiences of women.

Through hand and free-hand machine embroidery, beading, and painting, I use thread as a way of slowing down, regulating emotion, and making sense of personal and collective histories.

Working in mental health has deepened my commitment to creating safe spaces for stories held in silence, and supporting others to reclaim their voice.
This is where my story finds its voice. May it resonate something within you.
